How We Research
Every guide on HonestlyChosen starts with one question: will this product work for the person who is shopping for it? For our bidet seat guides, that means your toilet shape, where your outlet is and what your water supply needs.
Here is how we answer it.
1. We start with your toilet and your bathroom
A bidet seat replaces your toilet seat, so a round or elongated bowl, a skirted base or an unusual toilet can decide what fits. An electric seat also needs an outlet within reach.
We check the sizes the maker lists, whether the seat needs an outlet and what the install involves. When your bathroom limits the choice, like an outlet far from the toilet, we say what to check.
2. We compare specs and features
We look at the nozzle features, the water temperature options, seat heating, the remote or side panel, the water supply connection and the parts in the box. We also note the warranty terms the maker lists.
When a detail comes from the maker, we say so. We write that a seat "may fit" rather than that it fits every toilet.
3. We look at buyer feedback
We read through what buyers report after using a seat. We look for patterns, like seats that don't fit, leaks at the connection, weak water pressure or remotes that are hard to use.
One angry review doesn't sink a product. A pattern does.
4. We score each product
Our score weighs specs, features and buyer feedback against what you're shopping for. A product that's great for one buyer may score lower in a guide written for another.
Scores spread out on purpose. A 10 is rare.
5. We keep pages up to date
Products change, and some disappear from stores. TOTO, Bio Bidet, Brondell and LUXE each sell several seats with similar names, so we check each model name and code before we write about it.
When we update a guide, the "Updated on" date at the top changes with it.
What our picks are not
Our picks are research, not lab tests. We don't claim to have installed or used every seat we cover.
Our guides don't replace the maker's install guide. For outlets, water lines and fit, follow the maker's steps, and ask a plumber if you're unsure about a connection.
We make no hygiene or medical promises about any bidet seat. When a maker makes a claim, we label it as the maker's claim.
